Summer Cruising in France, May - August, 2014,
Tony and Sally set out from Roanne in the first week of May and cruised to St Jean de Losne where Sable spent a week on the slipway having her bottom scrubbed and re-painted. Then it was up the Saône and the Petit Saône to Nancy. From Nancy it was westwards-ho to Vitry le Francois and Chalons en Champagne to catch the Tour de France; and a brief stop at Vraux to visit again the fascinating WWII Aviation Museum. A leisurely cruise through Champagne region followed, then down the Marne to Paris for several days. Finally it was time to head up the Seine, into the Canal de Loing and the Canal Lateral à la Loire, home to our winter base in Roanne.
It was a pleasant summer made all the more enjoyable by visitors: Peter and Barbara Overell; Matt and Brooke; Erin; Gray, Suellen, Elsie and Joey; Lorraine and Shirley-Ann. Needless to say, many fine repasts feature in our photos!
